Flood Insurance Requirements in Broward and Miami_Dade Counties May Change With This Update.
On July 31st 2024, more than 260,000 properties in Broward County will be affected by FEMA flood map changes. Over 113,000 parcels will move from a low hazard area to a high hazard, while others β roughly 6,600 β will move out of high hazard zones.

The result of this new study did not include all of Broward County.
Do you need Flood Insurance?
Homeowners with a federally backed mortgage will be required to get flood insurance by July 31. If their property is on the new FEMA flood map it can be private flood insurance or coverage from the national flood insurance program.
"They have a maximum coverage of $250,000 for a home and contents of $100,000, so that's the limit but private insurance can go up to three or four million dollars for higher value homes."
